St. Joseph Healthcare in Bangor and its medical care practices have recently received recognition for quality care from two prestigious, national quality rating organizations.
St. Joseph Healthcare was awarded a 2013 Five Star Service Award from Avatar Solutions for its outstanding treatment of Physician Office patients. A five-Star Award is presented to the health care facility with the highest patient satisfaction survey score for a particular patient type in Avatar’s national database.
Avatar Solutions is a research, consulting and survey firm whose mission is to improve quality and efficiency of care in the nation’s hospitals. In addition to conducting surveys, Avatar also actively engages hospitals in process improvement, including training in service quality.
St. Joseph Healthcare operates several primary care practices, along with specialty practices in Orthopedics, General Surgery, Gastroenterology, Internal Medicine, Respiratory care, Rheumatology, Endocrinology and Occupational Health.
In addition, three of St. Joseph Healthcare’s primary care practices – St. Joseph Internal Medicine, St. Joseph Family Medicine and St. Joseph Family Medicine - Broadway – have been awarded Level 3 Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) distinction by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA). Level 3 is the highest ranking attainable.
NCQA is a private non-profit organization dedicated to improving health care quality.
The PCMH designation represents a model of care which strengthens the provider-patient relationship by replacing intermittent care with coordinated care. PCMH aims at giving each patient a personal provider who leads a team comprised of professionals who take collective responsibility for each patient’s care.
